DSLR Users Group meeting

  • 19 Jan 2017
  • 7:00 PM - 9:00 PM
  • Robinson Nature Center

Our first DSLR Users Group meeting in 2017 is scheduled for Thursday January 19 from 7:00 – 9:00pm at the Robinson Nature Center in Columbia. We will meet in one of the 2 classrooms located on the level just below the entrance lobby; classrooms are accessible via stairwell and elevator.

As in previous years, our monthly DSLR meetings throughout the 2017 calendar year will be scheduled for the 3rd Thursday of each month unless otherwise noted. Location, directions, and other information about the Robinson Nature Center are provided at their web site:

https://www.howardcountymd.gov/Departments/Recreation-and-Parks/Facilities/Robinson-Nature-Center

PLEASE NOTE Robinson’s Inclement Weather phone number on their home page. In the event of potentially hazardous weather conditions we will do our best to get the word out to all members should we need to cancel a DSLR User’s Group meeting. Should a meeting be canceled, the next one will be held in accordance with the monthly schedule noted above.

For our January meeting, CMPG member Mark Winter has kindly volunteered to give a presentation and demonstration on how to mat and frame photographs. Here’s his description:

“Have you always wanted to learn how to mat and frame your own photographs?  If so, I will be demonstrating techniques used in matting and framing artwork.  This will include a discussion of the equipment needed and the process of cutting mats and glass, mounting photographs, and assembling the finished work.”

For safety reasons Mark will bring precut glass to the meeting, however all other aspects of the matting and framing process will be demonstrated using a variety of materials, supplies, and equipment.
