We are looking for volunteer photographers for Rebuilding Together Howard County's Rebuilding day on Saturday, April 27th

This is an organization we have partnered with for several years. We send our members to photograph volunteers as they repair or renovate low income homes in our community.

Each volunteer would be assigned a few locations to photograph. You'd stop by and get "before" photos and possibly group shots of their workers. Then return later in the day to photograph what they accomplished.  The photos are used to document the work they do and to share with their donors to show how impactful their money is.

Even if this is something you may have never done, we would still love to have you. We will have a Zoom mid-April for volunteers to get you ready for the exciting day!

Thank you to all past photographers! We hope you'll join us again!

Please register to sign up.  The sooner you can commit, the better!!

We'll start the meeting with our April Member Slideshow, then go from there with a friendly open exchange of information. If you want to upload images to share/discuss, an upload link will be mailed out ahead of the event.  Hope to see you there!!

We will be LIVE ONLY at the East Columbia Library (YES, EAST COLUMBIA!!)

Come join us for an annual Baltimore tradition! The first Saturday of May (May 4th, time and meet up location to be determined).

The American Visionary Arts Museum (AVAM) hosts the Kinetic Sculpture Race around the streets and parks of the inner harbor and Patterson Park, with various obstacle courses along the way. The event is rain or shine and lasts most of the day. It may require some good health and endurance for those who want to cover the entire event.

The pre-race ceremony and start of the event at the AVAM offers a lot of fun and opportunities to photograph the vehicles and their brightly costumed crews and the race from several vantage points around the AVAM, including Federal Hill and Key Highway. For the hardy photographer, you may wish to hop in you car and find parking in the neighborhood of Canton, then hike over to Canton Waterfront Park to photo the contestants paddle their contraptions around the pier to prove their sea worthiness. You can then follow the parade up to Patterson Park to witness the obstacle corses of plowing their craft through a sand pit, then uphill through a groomed and mucky mud corse. After they hose themselves and their transportation off, they reassemble at the pagoda observatory to parade down E.Pratt Street to return, via downtown, to the AVAM for the finish (around 4:00pm) and party for the participants.

This year's race route and start times have not yet been published. In past years the race, itself, starts around 10am, with pre-race activities and ceremony at 9:00 am. We will update, as information becomes available.

Join us for our our May User Group meeting on Monday, May 20th, 7-9pm at Bethany United Methodist church.

For this month's User Group meeting, we are fortunate to have Julie Grabil present to us.  Julie is a professor of Photography and videography at the University of Baltimore where she teaches classes on still and video photography.  Many of us do not know how to use the video features on our cameras, so Julie will step us through formats, settings, etc to get you up and running shooting video.

This should be an exciting meeting, so come whether you have no experience with video, or have experience and want to learn more.  You do not need to bring any equipment to this meeting, but if you could to see the video features on your own camera.

Please register if you plan on attending so that we set up the correct # of chairs.  We will meet at the normal place at Bethany United Methodist church.  Hope to see you then!

We are excited to welcome David Hobby, for his presentation on travel photography: how to learn to see beyond camera techniques to embrace the more important interpersonal components of being a photographer.
