A replacement CMPG event for May will be the 153rd anniversary battle of New Market Civil War reenactment.
This wonderful piece of history will take place on May 20 and 21st. from 10AM to 5PM. We will be attending the event on the 20th of May.
New Market is about 45 miles south of Winchester, VA on Route #81. The battle field is just off of Route I-81 and is well marked. There is a $10 ticket charge per person. Food can be bought on the field. It is about a 2 hour drive from here.
This is a great family outing . . with an opportunity to see history in action. There will be over a thousand reenactors all in uniform and some on horse back. There will be complete battle reenactments replete with cannon and musket firing from moving fields of infantry. Nothing is spared.
The encampment is a walk through history. Each of the enactors will gladly relate their portion of the battle/history on a one to one basis. You will acquire more than just your images.
We will be leaving from the Long Gate park-and- ride at 9AM on the dot. Please try and be there 15 minutes early to allow for planning and ride pairing to take place.
You can make the planning process much easier by declaring your intention to attend via the “REGISTER” radio button on our web site “EVENT” page,
