Our speaker for September is Tom Beck, Chief Curator (retired) at UMBC. He was the curator for their photography collection, which includes works by many, many greats, like Cartier-Bresson, Ansel Adams, Walker Evans, etc.
The title of Tom's talk is "7 Concepts Critical to Understanding Photographic History (and the History of Anything Illustrated by Photographs)."
The lecture will be illustrated by images from UMBC's photography holdings. Tom will tell how the works were acquired.
