"We advance the art and science of photography through technical and aesthetic educational programs and through public service photography."
Join us for our next General Meeting, Wednesday, May 3rd , 7:00pm. This is a LIVE ONLY meeting. Come to the Central Library at 10375 Little Patuxent Pkwy, Columbia, MD. We will compile notes and publish them, so if you can't be live, you'll be able to learn too!
Our scheduled speaker has informed us that he is ill so we're changing the topic. We are calling it "Share / Show / Ask / Learn". We will be having a casual and open discussion on anything photography. If you've discovered something, SHARE! If you've gotten a new piece of gear or found some cool software feature, SHOW! If you have a question, ASK! By the end of the night, you will LEARN!
We will reschedule this speaker.
Jim Johnson, will cover the basics of astrophotography, to include planetary vs. deep sky object imaging techniques, the various types of noise astophotographers must manage and noise reduction techniques, how an object that is barely brighter than the sky is pulled out of the darkness, and an overview of astrophotography tools and techniques.
Jim is a life-long space exploration and astronomy enthusiast. His past astronomical endeavors include serving as Howard Astronomical League (HAL) president, as a certified telescope operator in the HAL Observatory, and as an adjunct professor of astronomy at Howard Community College. Presently, he enjoys participating in public outreach activities in many forms. His primary pursuit in recent years has been solar system and deep space object astrophotography and traveling to remote dark-sky locations.
