Join us for our next General Meeting, Wednesday, April 3rd, 7:00pm.
This will be LIVE at the HoCo Central library and on Zoom.
We will hear from Brian Sirotkin about his experience with Pet photography!
It has always been animals for Bryan Sirotkin. From a young age, he had his hands on some sort of critter. Whether it be the box turtle he was playing with in the backyard, to photographing his family dog with his Mickey Mouse 110 camera. His love for the camera grew when his grandfather, after noting Bryan’s eye for finding beauty in the world around him, gifted Bryan his old camera. Bryan took right to it, accumulating ten years of formal education in photography.
He received his degree in Art:Photography and his Certificate from Washington School of Photography. He later earned his Certified Professional Photographer (CPP) from the Professional Photographers of America. His focus has always been on animal portraits. In his 20 plus years as a professional pet portrait photographer, Bryan has rarely turned down an opportunity to take photos of an animal. From the service and therapy dogs of Fido’s For Freedom, to the challenges of getting a tarantula to pose with its purse, he always approaches the photos with a love of the animals and desire to capture their personality as best he can. Even wildlife gets the subtleties of their expressions brought out in their photos from him.
Bryan is a proud member of the Professional Photographers of America, International Society of Animal Photographers, Maryland Professional Photographers of America, Central Maryland Photographers Guild and is a Nikon Professional Services member. Bryan won the MDPPA Best Pet Portrait in 2021, and Best Black and White image in 2023.
